This is what I see most days on my way to work:
That is an 18 wheeler trailer with cages and cages of either very
large chickens or turkeys going to the turkey packing plant.
There are 2 birds in each cage.
Makes me not want chicken or turkey ever again. . .
Think we will have dressing, potatoes, gravy, broccoli, and sweet potatoes with
pecan pie and that dang ole smokin dessert that
Michael loves.
It just may be a meatless Thanksgiving Day this year.
It's not about meat, right?
It's about how many KACKLES you have!!

I've never been a big fan of a giant dead bird carcass plopped down in the middle of the table for an enjoyable family dining experience anyway. Your menu sounds good to me (except for the broccoli, of course).
I live in one of the largest chicken raising, stinking, smelly , gagging counties in the world. well largest might be a bit stretching it a bit but size dont matter after they spread the manure everywhere. That said I still love some yard bird, fried, baked, or in a cassarole.
I saw 4 wild turkeys on the way in to work this morning.
Although I am a vegetarian, I still cook meat for my husband and kids. I try not to force my vegetarian beliefs on others but often speak out about humane treatment of animals. I just want to say that if we HAVE to eat meat, why can't the animals be treated humanely before they give their lives for us. Why must they be crammed in such tiny cages etc..?
We eat free range chicken and eggs. It's not that much more expensive than battery cage chicken. We won;t ever be vegetarians, but we've started to make wiser choices when it comes to what we eat. I always get sad when I see those trucks so I can't imagine what it must be like seeing them on the way to work everyday. :( - G
It is sad to see this. I hate when I see moo-cows, too. I'd rather just see the meat or chicken in the grocery store, thank you very much!
