I would forget to go during the day and would end up over there at night. They have trees that cover the road. I felt like I was in the Outer Limits or Twilight Zone on those days. Along with they live on an old country road that used to be dirt but now has a thin layer of black top over it. Holes, bumps and what not still there. And since I have just had my car realigned and a tie rod replaced, I go very slow over this road. 8 pm on a black night, goin' to a house on the hill to feed dogs in the dark, even feedin' a dog that does not like you, is spooky.
But that is not the REALLY spooky part! The really spooky part is when I got on the highway headin' to their road, the noises comin' off the road into my car sounded like someone moanin'! Honest!! woooooooo.... ooooohhhh....... whiiiiinnnnneeee......... This went on for almost a week! I got to the place I really didn't want to go over there at night! The yowlin' AND the dark bumpy road with over grown trees and no street lights or houses??? Purty spooky stuff, Jack. But I'm a grand friend and those pups needed to be fed!! So I persevered! Through thick or thin or even strange noises from my car and the road! (The really weird part is that it only happened on the newly tarred highway. Not on her road or on my road. ONLY ON THE HIGHWAY.)
Then I figured it out. . . I'm smart like that, ya know. . .
I had a low tire. A REALLY low tire. Not flat but purty dang close! I think it had 18 pounds of air!
I got a good kackle out of that one!! I'm such a dork!!!
Hope you kackled today!! Even over a ghostly tire!

Reminds me of the joke going around when I was a kid, when cordorouy pants were a necessity in everyone's wardrobe...how when someone wearing a pair was running away from a "spooky ghost" or something, and the faster he ran, the faster the villian ran after him. Like you realized with your tire, he realized it was his pants swishing together.
Got you tire fixed yet? :)
That is too funny, great kackle. But I'm glad your tire didn't decide to go totally flat while you were on that road.
I just hate when I am smart at figuring stuff out real quick like that!
I love that you freaked yourself out more than once going over there and it was just your tire. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes, too. I'm so glad you pushed through for the sake of the pups!!
Very spooky, but glad you got it fixed. I probably never would have figured it out.
That is spooky...I don't know if I would have been able to go on my own at night. I hope those friends of yours know how lucky they are. And I'm glad the flat tire didn't send you flying off the road either! Glad to have you back here! - G
At least it didn't leave you stranded on that spooooky road!
This has actually happened to me. It's funny how our imaginations sometimes get the best of us.
I was on the phone to my mom one time and asked if she could hear it! But alas, she could not!! And no Anita, I have not gotten it fixed yet! I'm so bad. I just keep airing it it!!
My imagination gets the best of me alot of times!!! Then I have to laugh at myself! So if you ever run across me sittin by myself just a kacklin, you will know I've pulled 'nother goody on myself!!
Bummer for Texas last night and Colt McCoy, but Gilbert played like a champ. I LOVE football!! :)) And love finding blogs by the "over 50" gang! Happy New Year! :)
Such a lovely blog you have here! Such a cute design as well and I see you are friends with Richard and Rabbit..I love them both :)
Nice to meet you and look forward to following your blog :)
Reminds me of when I take care of my friend's critters. They also live out in the country... far enough out that it's easier for me just to go live out there for the week. So I can relate to driving down country roads in the dark. Spooky! Even without the low tire pressure!
I have never, ever, in my life heard a noise like that before!! That is the only thing I can attribute it to! When I aired the tire it stopped. But is soo sounded like a ghost in a movie!! Glad the first time I heard it, it was daylight!!
That's funny! Glad you figured it out before it was too late! Good thing you didn't get a flat tire or that would have REALLY scared the bejesus out of you on the dark road! Yikes!
