32 years ago . . .

My first daughter was born, Tracy Dawn. She was a special child. We just didn't know at the time just how special she was. Nor how long she would be handing out hugs, kisses and smiles with flowers.

Trace loved everyone! She thought all people were her friends. She would pass out hugs to any and everyone. Laugh? This girl would laugh all the time!

Sometimes I just didn't appreciate what I had. Now I don't have it. Lesson to all. Grab those kiddos and keep those hugs, kisses and laughter and take them whenever offered. You never know when they will no longer be available. Hold those babies tight. Even when they are driving you absolutely crazy.

She was born today and left us on October 17, 1986, eight and a half years later. JD was 8 months, Layne 2, Chel 3 and Rabbit 10. I don't have a picture of all five of my kids together.

Hug those kids. Hold them close. We are not guaranteed tomorrow or even the next minute.

Tracy, 1, Rabbit, 2 1/2

Here's is Rabbit's post for today. How it feels as a child to lose a sibling.

Love to all,

Thanks QL! Some days/years are better than others. This year looks to be a moody one.

I had no idea. I'm so sorry KaLynn, and I can't even imagine your loss. What a nice tribute in memory of Tracy Dawn. You are so right that parents need to appreciate everything about their children and to remember what really matters.

How does one ever get past the loss of a child? Hugs to you on this most special of days.

I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child. My heart goes out to you as you remember Tracy.
I do want to share with you how blessed I am by Rabbit. He makes me smile and always knows what to say to make me feel better. Next time you're hugging him up close to you, will you please give him an extra squeeze from me :)

Thank you guys! I didnt do this to get sympathy. I did this to remind us to hug our kids/family alot because we never know when it will be our last.

May every hug count!

I am just now reading this...I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter! I can't even imagine. Thank you for reminding us all to hug our kids. I think we all tend to just take things for granted and not realize how prescious live really is. You said something about some days/years are better than othes. I know what you mean about that and loses...I think 2010 is going to be a sad year. Wish I could give you a hug!!
