Protecting the newspaper!

This what happens when the fire ants decide to protect their newspaper.

And you don't know it.

So you pick up the paper YOU pay for
and stick it under your arm.

Start to get in the car to go to work

Realize that your arm is on

F I R E!!!

Pull the news paper out from under your arm

THEN
realize that is it covered with ANTS!

FIRE ANTS!!

They were all over my arm, my purse, IN my purse.

BUT I DID NOT DROP THE COFFEE!!!

All the way to work, I felt these little buggers
all over.

On  my legs, my feet, my side.

The mind works in strange ways, eh?

Have a great day!

Those stings look awful. You got more than me... yes, I posted about ants today. I seem to have copied a lot of people, one way or another.

I had a run in with those little b**tards 2 years ago in Charleston. I looked down at my foot and it was covered. It was so painful and swelled so bad I had to go to the Emergency Room and get steroids to help. That was how I found out about fire ants in the south! Hope yours heal up soon.

that looks painful! my youngest had a run-in with fire ants when he was about 6 or 7 - he sat in a bunch of them and they turned his nether region into a flaming mess.

OUCH. What is it about fire ants that there's ALWAYS a gazillion of them? I get caught by them when I'm photographing things outside, I step in them unknowingly ... until my foot is on fire. Horrible creatures!

Wow - that must have been some exciting news! Even the ants are reading it! Hope you feel better soon. That looks like it hurts!

OUCH!!!!! I do not understand why there is such a creature!

We used to have them in our backyard in Alabama. Those buggers are bad news when they bite!

Just an FYI-I put ice on these bites when I got to work and some insect sting wipes and they never turned into sores. They basically just dried up. I also heard that mustard, like you put on your sandwich, helps too.

Michael was our first ant bite victim out here. He was 13 when we moved here and had a front yard with a great slope. Just what we needed for our slip and slide.
Only I didn't see the ant bed and put the slide over it. After about the 3rd kid down the thing it was covered and he went down the slide on his belly arms out and by the time he stood up he was completely covered to his elbows with ants. He got so very sick. It was awful.
